Service History Value Calculator
A documented service history is worth real money at resale — but how much depends on the car. Set the age, price band and brand segment for an estimated range.
Estimated value that a full, documented service history adds
£1,650 – £2,500
around 11–17% of a £10,000 – £20,000 car
This is an estimate, not a valuation. It scales published resale-premium ranges by brand segment and vehicle age — see the methodology below.
Where does this estimate come from?
The calculator scales published used-car resale-premium ranges by two factors that genuinely move the number: brand segment and vehicle age.
- Segment premium. Analyses of the UK used market consistently put the value of a full service history at roughly 8–15% for mainstream brands, 12–18% for premium and 15–22% for prestige, versus an otherwise identical car with a patchy or missing record.
- Age taper. The premium is largest on newer cars and eases as a car ages, so the model applies full weight up to three years and tapers gradually after that.
- Price base. The percentage is applied to the midpoint of your chosen price band and rounded to the nearest £50.
It is an estimate to frame a decision, not a valuation. A specific car’s worth depends on condition, mileage, demand and the exact records — for which the MOT history and a full service record are the evidence.
